This point feature class was created to store and display information about the
location and names of old village sites throughout Fiji. The data was captured
by the Fiji Geospatial Information Support (FGIS) Section of the Ministry of
Lands and Mineral Resources using the Trimble Juno 5 GPS Receiver. The data
collection process began in January 2019 and has been ongoing since, while
data processing was done using the Fiji Map Grid 1986 coordinate system in
ArcMap (or ArcPro).
The updating and verifying of this feature class is handled entirely by the FGI
Team which is based at the Itaukei Trust Fund Complex in Nasese, Suva. Any
queries concerning this data can be directed to them on (+679) 323 9706. It is
also worth noting that the Team updates the data regularly and the most upto-
date version is displayed online at http://vanuagis.lands.gov.fj/vanuagis/. |
